Where We Are Now: LGBTIQ+ Rights and the Fight for Democracy

As part of the tenth anniversary, a dedicated international conference - Defending Freedoms. Advancing Human Rights - will explore the progress made in LGBTQI+ rights, the urgent challenges ahead for wider human rights and equality, and the risks to our democracy.

Taking place in Dublin Castle, the conference will include voices from:

  • Irish civil society

  • International NGOs and rights organisations

  • Government and diplomatic representatives

Together, they’ll look at the state of democracy, equality and human rights in Ireland and beyond.

This event is hosted by a separate team and will have its own registration process.

Now, ten years on, we remember that spirit. In a time of growing global fear and division, we come together again to say: this is who we are. We believe in human rights. We believe in equality. We believe in democracy. Marriage Referendum+10 is a chance to reawaken the hope and unity of that day and to bring it forward into the next ten years.
