About the event
Almost ten years ago, on the 22nd of May 2015, Ireland officially passed the same sex marriage referendum. To celebrate this historic day, activists have come together to plan a series of events in Limerick the week of May 19th to 25th, including a performance of The Morning After the Life Before by Ann Blake on Saturday May 24th.
A groggy Sunday morning, May 24th 2015, and 62% of Ireland is #hungoverforequality. Ann gets a text from her brother: “How’s the morning after the life before?”
Marking the 10th anniversary of the Marriage Equality referendum, Gúna Nua presents the internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning play for one night only. The Morning After the Life Before is an hour-long two-hander performed by Ann Blake and Lucia Smyth. The show is a personal, entertaining tale of weddings, ‘coming out’ and arguments over who takes out the bins.
